Fingerprinting Requirement

All massage licensees and establishment owners must submit approved fingerprints and undergo a level 2 background check. All licensees after July 1st, 2014, are required to submit at the time of application. Current licensees have until January 31, 2015 to submit and comply. Learn More…

Establishment Hours

Effective October 1, 2013, Massage Establishments may not operate between Midnight and 5 AM. There are a few exemptions to this new rule, including establishment’s location and whether the massage is under the prescription of a licensed physician. Chiropractors Exempt from Having Massage Establishment Licenses

As of July 1, 2014, Chiropractors employing licensed massage therapists to do massage therapy on patients at their chiropractic practice are now exempt from needing a massage establishment license. Independent contractors and renters (this implies the person is not an employee) still must obtain an establishment license.

Photo Display Requirement

Each licensee must attach to their displayed license, a 2 inch by 2 inch photograph of the individual whose name appears on the license. The photo needs to be a recent photo, taken within the last 2 years. This law became effective August 1, 2012, for new applicants. One Hour of HIV/AIDS No Longer Required for Renewal

There is no longer a requirement for a minimum one (1) hour course in HIV/AIDS for license renewal. Three (3) hours of HIV/AIDS education is still required to get an initial license. This change was effective July 1st, 2012. Learn More…
